GLOSSARY TERM

Pop Traffic

Pop traffic opens pages under or over user sessions across publisher networks: pennies per visit, minimal targeting intent, maximal filtering burden.

Honest uses and limits

Pops can profitably feed high-converting pre-landers in tolerant GEOs and offers, and serve as cheap creative/funnel testbeds. They also carry the vertical’s worst bot ratios and brand-safety surprises (where exactly did that impression run?). Most regulated-market programs prohibit pops outright; gray-market economics tolerate them. The recurring failure is undeclared pop traffic wearing an “SEO” declaration — a termination case that fraud teams catch on referrer and behavior patterns quickly.
