GLOSSARY TERM
KYB for Affiliates
KYB screens who you’re actually paying: company registration, beneficial ownership, sanctions and PEP lists, and bank-account ownership matching the contracted entity.
Why finance insists
Affiliate payouts are outbound money flows to loosely verified counterparties across borders — exactly the pattern AML frameworks flag. Sanctions exposure is strict-liability in most regimes; “we didn’t know the beneficial owner” is not a defense. Verify before first payment (not at signup — most applicants never earn), re-verify on bank-detail changes, and treat urgent requests to redirect payouts to a new account as the fraud signal they usually are.
