GLOSSARY TERM
Sanctions Screening
Sanctions screening blocks dealings with listed individuals, entities and jurisdictions: players at onboarding and ongoing, affiliates and vendors before money moves, with list updates rescreened continuously.
Affiliate-payment angle
Paying commissions is an outbound financial flow — screening affiliate beneficial owners and bank geographies is standard KYB, and geopolitical events reshuffle exposure overnight (payment rails to certain countries closing mid-cycle, with commissions owed). Programs need contractual language for frozen-payment scenarios and payout rails with fallback options; “we couldn’t pay you because of sanctions” conversations go better with clauses than without.
