Gambling treasury juggles player-liability coverage (segregated funds where mandated), multi-currency float across PSPs and banks, reserve lockups, and payout liquidity across entities and markets.

The specific tensions

Player funds protection rules dictate untouchable balances; rolling reserves trap volume; settlement lags mismatch daily payout demand; and every currency boundary leaks FX. Tooling ranges from spreadsheets (common, terrifying) to real treasury systems with cash-position feeds. It’s the least glamorous function in the company and the one whose failure modes — missed payouts, regulatory breaches — are the most public.
