GLOSSARY TERM
Session
A session bounds continuous activity (login to logout, or inactivity-terminated), and most behavioral analytics aggregate from it: session length, frequency, stake velocity, night-time patterns.
Two consumers of the same data
Product teams read sessions for engagement; RG systems read the identical stream for harm — lengthening late-night sessions with rising stakes is a marker pattern requiring intervention in social-responsibility regimes. Reality checks (elapsed-time interrupts) exist per session by mandate in several markets. The dual use is the modern industry in miniature: the same telemetry serves growth and duty, and regulators audit which one wins.
