All websites are designed considering viewers in mind. The purpose of all the websites is to attract maximum web traffic and to generate maximum leads from them. But designing for the different website types is entirely different from one another. Take for instance the designing of a shopping portal and a community website. Though both the websites are aiming at attracting more viewers and more interaction in the website, the outlook and the designing style of the two shall be quite different from one another.

Talking about shopping portal designing the most important aspect in a shopping portal is the products. People will come to your website to buy stuffs. They want to see the products and are willing to order them provided it suits their requirement. Hence, the products should be give the maximum attention when it comes to a shopping portal.

Shopping portals also need to be supported greatly with content which is written in simple and easy to comprehend language. Since, there is no flesh and blood salesman in your shopping portal, there must be content which will assist the visitor on every step. Coming to the designing part, it is important that you design your website well so that the user is able to browse through your website freely. Shopping portal designing should not be too cluttered, neither should it be too scattered. Your website should have ample space to fit in your products with a wholesome description.

Navigation is a very important aspect of Online shopping portals. Just like a shopper is free to move around in a physical shopping mall, so should he be free to move around in a virtual mall. Give your visitor the freedom to browse through the website and look around other products too so that he can come back to buy them when he needs them. A way of retaining customers to shopping portals is by asking them to fill up a form containing their basic information, so that you can keep them in loop through mails and messages.

There have been several instances when the customers have faced difficulty in the shopping cart. While a shopping portal designing process is on, the developers should actually keep themselves on the users end and then create a design so that they are able to catch the difficult ends first. Many a times the designers create such a lengthy transaction procedure that the visitors tend to lose patience and move out leaving the transaction half way. The conversion of traffic to leads depends on this end only. Therefore it is extremely important that the shopping cart of the portal be made user friendly and easy to use.

Online shopping portals are a new face of our real time market hence must be designed in a creative but simple manner so that it is easy for the users to transact from it.

A few years ago I started selling on Ebay, Which in turn, demanded the use of a Digital camera. I would take at least 50 photos a day, and sometimes up to 100. You would not believe how many batteries I went through until I realised how to save and preserve my precious digital cameras battery life. Take it from me, I never loose that great photo opportunity because my batteries have unexpectedly run out.

Get the right battery for your digital camera

I was lucky because my digital camera came with a lithium rechargeable battery and also took AA rechargeable batteries also. However, since I was a total amateur with digital cameras, I promptly ruined the lithium battery by not letting it run out properly before charging it again. Now I just use Ni-MH AA rechargeable batteries with at least a mAh rating of 2300. I have had rechargeable batteries that had a rating of 1600 and they were absolutely hopeless!!! You must have rechargeable batteries, wether it be a nickel cadmium, lithium ion or lithium polymer battery.

Turn off your flash on your digital camera

As I was taking pictures in broad daylight, there was no need to use my flash. Not only did it ruin the photo with a bright glow, but it consumed my battery power like a hungry animal. To find out how to turn the camera flash off I had to search the internet as I had lost my digital camera user manual.

Using the Lcd Screen was a big power user

I quickly learned that instead of browsing through the photos on the camera, I would wait until I had transferred them to the computer. The little harmless LCD screen on the back of most digital cameras is a total power hog.

Before writing this article, I perused the web looking to see what “experts” had to say about the subject of print ad design. The general consensus is to play it safe. Pshaw, I say! True enough, if you stick to tried and true formulas, there is no danger of hosing up your ad, but if you are brave, amazing things can happen. Of course, this is just my opinion based on my personal experiences in designing ads for clients and it is definitely a riskier proposition. So if you like to play it safe, you may want to look elsewhere, but if you ready to take a risk with potential big rewards, read on my friend.

Step One: Decide what you are selling

Are you selling a specific product or the company as a whole? Either way, you need to figure out what makes what you are selling special and valuable to the potential buyer. Let me be the first to tell you, it is NOT because you or your product is the best. Nor is it because you are the most at something unless it is quantifiable. People are inundated with “We have the best burgers, advice, candy, _insert your product or service here_”. It means nothing and when I say nothing, I really mean it so don’t even think about it. As far as “the most” goes, never claim to be “The most reputable, professional, knowledgeable, _insert your adjective here_”, because no one will believe you. Now, if you can claim, “The most cars sold in North Carolina” or “The most widely read newspaper in Charlotte”, that is a claim that can be quantified and therefore can establish a true leadership position. True leadership is a great selling point because people are comfortable with buying your product or service if everyone else buys it too. I like to call this the Lemming Effect. If you can’t claim a true leadership position, you need to sell the sizzle not the steak. By selling the sizzle, I mean sell the main benefit of your product or service. Tell the reader what’s in it for him if he buys your product. For example DON’T sell this, “Reliable Investment Strategies.” DO sell this, “Our Clients Average a 20% Higher Return on Investments. You can too.” You are selling the benefit of investing with your company.

Step Two: Formulate a Concept

Now that you know what you are selling you are ready to formulate a concept. The “experts” say look at several competing companies and do something similar, but not identical. I say look at your competition and so something entirely different. I mean think about it, if you are just like everyone else, why would

Even unintentionally we pay a lot of attention to our lighting. Have you ever thought why? Because light creates atmosphere, feeling and warmth at home, it gives us the feeling of cosiness and can create either cold and gloomy feeling or warm and soft feeling in our living room, bedroom and bathrooms. Always go with your feeling, if you like a certain lamp — means it will make you feel cosy in your own house later when you hang it. The light is always cosier when it has a little yellowish shade and imitate the candle light, rather than white neon light, because this type of lamps always make you feel deal in your house.  Choose one online and make sure it’s not neon, for sure you are going to enjoy it!

This is very personal theme featuring a photo I took myself in Prague 2 years ago.  Blue and beige colours scheme, rounded corners and very sleek design with nice gradients and paper curve at the end of each post.

Why its called “Evening Alone”? Because on the evening when I took this photo, it was the only day that I spent totally alone. It was nice and relaxing, but I remember that day because it was also a little lonely having no company the whole day..

For the first time I am releasing a theme dedicated to sport, on Triathlon Training’s special request. Actually, I am happy to have this theme in the portfolio now, and probably will make something for the sports niche in the future although I always thought that those who work out don’t sit by the computer and blog… Anyway, here is a very sleek web 2.0 theme with rounded corners, rounded search bar window, and pleasant green / blue / white colours scheme.

I hope you will enjoy this release!
