To cut the story short — no, it does not worth it. Now, allow me to elaborate.

The traffic, that a blog which advertises to have a “I follow” activated, is about 3-10 visitors extra per day. On the one hand, it’s a good idea to bring in some traffic and for a totally new, or a dead blog, it would be a great solution for getting started. Most of these visitors, come to your website in order to leave a comment and will do it even if they won’t find a really worthy post, but they will add a crappy comment just to get a link. That was their original purpose of the visit!

Eventually, blogs that follow have a few comments on each post, and all the link on this page are “valid”, so… take all the links on the page + the links inside the post + the links in comments section… Your pages loses quality, too many external links for SEO and above all, you rarely ever get quality comments, it will always be something like “thanks for the info, great blog!”. Do you really need it?
