One of the biggest networks for selling and buying links, took one step forward and now offers text ads inside blog posts, for bloggers. When I came to add my Romance Blog a few days ago I got pre-approved for the offer and had the opportunity to take a peek at what’s the fuss is all about. Basically, these are same link ads, only this time they are offered inside the post itself. This is a progressive version of what they had earlier - “related links” in the end of each post.
While TLA (Text Link Ads) is a great network that I personally love and recommend and earn some money from, this particular marketplace idea has a lot of disadvantages which many bloggers will not be able to tolerate. First of all - this excludes blogs who are getting paid for blogging. While this is understandable that the advertiser does not want to end up with third party links in his post and the TLA buyer does not want to get links in a sponsored post, the blogger should ask himself - will the marketplace at TLA pay out? Most bloggers are getting 30$-50$ a day (on average) for sponsored blogging, so the biggest question is - will they get this much from TLA and does it worth giving up on sponsored posts networks. My assumption is NO, you won’t get even 10$ a day from TLA on one blog, unless it’s some ultra popular blog, but then again, with utra popular blog you will get paid either way from links and ads.
Second disadvantage is even more saddening, you can’t participate in TLA’s affiliate program. AT ALL. So if you are like me, managing to send at least 1-2 referrals monthly, cut these 25-50 dollars off your monthly revenue. The question is - does it worth it? I don’t think so.
To sum it up, I doubt any blogger will agree to give up on sponsored blogging and TLA referral program (which is by the way one of the best ones I tried myself) just for the sake of MAYBE getting some pocket money off the in-bound text link ads.

The in-post ads have worked really good for me, because I have a really small site and wasn’t getting much action as far as the regular Text Links go. However I didn’t know it cut me out of the Referral program. I need to go check on that part of it.
Hi,
I’m a little confused by the title of this post.
It says that Wordpress Text Links Ads Launches a Marketplace. What is this Marketplace you are referring to, because I though they’ve always had a closed registration-only directory of publishers.
I’m the developer of WP Text Ads, and I’ve just launched the Marketplace for advertisers to connect with bloggers. Perhaps you meant that?
Alex
