Actually, yes. Of course it depends who is a “Mogul” in your eyes. Naturally people like Steve Pavlina, Darren Rowse and John Chow are, but don’t forget that they brand themselves wisely, and invest in self promotion just as well as in their blog.
Yesterday I was reading someone’s technology blog, techcrunch.com, and just out of curiosity clicked the “Advertise” button. Mama mia…
Pricing for each sponsorship unit is currently $10,000 per month, which translates to a very low effective CPM (less than $3 based on over 3.5 million page views / month.) There is a minimum term of two months.
Okay, so I admit you get a good value for your money, they are PR8 and have 400,000 readers daily (err, “only”!) and you get a banner, not a text link. How many months do you need to work hard offline to be able to sponsor one month of advertising with them? This only proves how crazy and overpriced the digital, cyber, unreal world gets, and how some people’s RSS subscription, together with some other people’s incoming links, makes someone this rich.
