WordPress is, in my opinion, the best blogging platform ever, especially if you dig it’s structure and understand it fully, you will never have a problem with any feature of this freely distributed software. However, you can squeeze even more out of your blog if you avail of some plug ins. Here are the best ones:
Translator Pro - You have to pay for this plugin but its worth it if you want to reach a wider audience worldwide . It creates automatically translated versions of your entire web site in 9 different languages.
Akismet - Spam protection, absolutely free if your blog makes below 500$ a month of pure income. Comes pre-installed with wordpress by default, however, go to wordpress.com and register an account, activate the plugin and enter the API key they generate for you. I bless the day I activated this plug in, it stops hundreds of viagra and adult offers everyday, saves the blogger time moderating.
Wp-Post Ratings - Adds an Ajax post rating to each post and lets visitors vote out of 5 or 10 stars etc. It’s a good way to get a fast feedback from visitors on which post did they like and which they did not, assuming they will bother to rate it, of course. I don’t use it on this blog, but I am planning to, and hope I won’t end up with 5 grey stars below each post ![]()
