Two years after initially being announced, Seagate has come through on their most secure Hard Disk Drive yet, set to be shipped in a laptop being provided by Laptop manufacturer ASI Computer Technologies, the worlds most secure hard drive will come in the form of a 2.5″ Momentus 5400 FDE.2 (Full Disk Encryption) hard drive in the ASI C8015+ models of laptops, and will retail for around $2,150.
The Hard Drive will ship in a variation of storage capacities ranging from 80GB to 160GB and all will have a RPM of 5400, which is slower than some other hard drives out there, however, it will still produce a 3GB/sec SATA interface.
The new hard drive is also making the new ASI C8015 into one of the most secure laptops in the world, coupled along with the FDE Hard Drive, purchasers of the laptop can expect a fingerprint reader, and many other security add-ons.
